My career in the resinous flooring industry dates back to 1981. ( 30 years ago). I started as a manufacturer's sales representative for an epoxy flooring formulator called Con Chem in Hawthorne, CA. I was charged with the responsibility to sell their products to facility managers and plant engineers. I represented them on a straight commission basis at the time. Since most customers wanted the products installed I had to work with various contractors in my area in order to sell my products.
It did not take long to discover that the weak link in the sales process was finding a qualified contractor that took a long view of the business. All too often the contractors in the business were more interested in getting in and out as quickly as possible. Any and all problems that may have developed during the installation process reflected on me personally even though I was not the person applying the product.
In 1997 I was presented with an opportunity to manage a resinous flooring business called D.I.S.C. which was an acronym for Designed Installations and Systems Corporation. It was a division of the Zoubek Associates company located in Sayreville, N.J. After 3 years I left in 1990 to start my own contracting company that provided me an opportunity to do things the way that I knew they had to be done. For years I was held responsible for the decisions of others. This was my chance to realize my own ambitions based on the knowledge that I had gained in all of the previous years in the resinous flooring business. I took out a second mortgage on my home as seed money to start the business.
It's hard to believe that that was 21 years ago. Through trial and error I have gained a great deal of knowledge of almost every aspect of this business. I have learned from every mistake and also from the mistakes of others.
Most of the profits generated by this business have been re-invested in this business. In 1997 we purchased our own building in Highland Park, N.J.. We now own more surface preparation and application equipment in the mid-Atlantic region than any other independent firm of our kind.
With the extensive years of service not only by management but more importantly by our field services staff I honestly feel that Mid-Atlantic Industrial Services corp. can provide exceptional service and quality that will exceed our customer's expectations for years to come.

I joined MAIS in December of 2006 with over 25 years of experience in the industrial coatings industry. I owned and operated an installation company for 4 years and sold it in 1988 to a large flooring contractor in Lancaster, PA. For the next 5 years my focus was developing industrial end user clients and marketing for that contractor. In 1993 I joined Valspar Corporation as the East Coast Sales Manager where I started their direct sales force. I was responsibility for sales, training and technical services in that region for 13 years. Since joining MAIS I have used my experience and knowledge to secure large projects with fortune 500 companies in food, pharmaceutical and heavy industrial markets.
